Terms of Use

These terms cover the public website, waitlist and contact forms, and participation in the current guided personal and business pilots.

Before you use 4word

4word is an evolving pilot, not an emergency or professional-advice service. We do our best, but calls can fail to arrive or drop, AI and transcription can make mistakes, and data can be deleted - by you or by us. Call forwarding is your setting with your carrier, and you must cancel it when you stop using the service or when the account is deactivated. Our liability is limited as set out in these terms. There is no charge during a free pilot without your explicit agreement.

What the site is

The site presents 4word, collects registrations, and enrolls pilot participants. The app includes call answering, live captions, and standalone transcription. Creating or accessing a personal or business account requires an active checkbox accepting the current Terms and acknowledging the Privacy Policy. Personal-product acceptance is recorded after phone verification.

Eligibility

Pilot participation is for people aged 18 or older only. You must provide accurate registration information and keep account access secure.

Pilot terms

Both products are currently offered to selected participants as guided pilots. Where a pilot is described as free, there is no 4word subscription charge during that pilot; carrier forwarding, call, roaming, or data charges may still be imposed by your telecom provider. Pilot access is not a promise of permanent availability.

We may use feedback and suggestions to improve the product without compensation. If paid service is offered later, pricing and material terms will be presented before activation; 4word will not begin charging solely because a free pilot ended.

The dedicated number

In the personal product you are assigned a dedicated phone number to which your calls are forwarded. The number is allocated for your use while the account is active, but it is not registered in your name and is not your property - it is supplied through our telephony provider and remains the property of the service or the provider. We may replace, change, or reclaim the number for operational, regulatory, or security reasons, with advance notice where practicable, and may reclaim the number of an account that has not been used for 90 consecutive days or more. There is no right to keep a particular number and no number portability.

When the account is closed, deactivated, or the service ends, the number returns to us and may be assigned to another user, and anyone who dials it afterwards may reach someone else. It is your responsibility to inform your contacts and stop distributing the number. Do not use the dedicated number as your only number for critical, medical, or legal matters.

The number is supplied through an international telephony provider (Twilio Inc.) under 4word's account, and is subject to that provider's acceptable-use rules, to the requirements of the carriers behind it, and to applicable law. The provider may suspend or remove a number - for breach of its rules, a regulatory requirement, or prolonged non-use, sometimes without prior notice - and we cannot override such a decision. We may also be required to give the provider identity or address details for regulatory requirements attached to the number; incorrect details, or a refusal to provide them, can lead to its removal.

Call forwarding - a setting you are responsible for

Forwarding calls from your personal number to the dedicated number is a service of your mobile carrier, not ours. We show you the right codes and, on supported devices, may send them for you, but the forwarding itself is executed, kept, and cancelled by the mobile network, and we cannot see, verify, or change its state at the carrier. It is your responsibility to set it up correctly, check that it works, and confirm from time to time that it is still active. Your carrier may charge for forwarding and for forwarded calls. On networks where forwarding is unreliable we do not offer it, and we are not responsible for calls lost through forwarding set up against our recommendation.

You must cancel the forwarding yourself, immediately, in each of these cases: you stop using the service; you delete the account; we deactivate, suspend, or terminate the account; the dedicated number is replaced or removed; an emergency notice or an explicit request from us. As long as forwarding is active, your calls keep arriving at a number that no longer answers for you, and they may be lost or reach someone else.

The reminders, alerts, and instructions to cancel forwarding that we show are a courtesy provided beyond what is required of us. The absence, lateness, or non-receipt of a reminder does not shift responsibility to us. The responsibility for cancelling forwarding, and for the consequences of not cancelling it, is yours alone.

Inbound and outbound calls - possible failures, and emergency services

The service runs over the internet. The app receives the call, the live transcript and the alerts over a data connection - cellular or Wi-Fi. Without a working internet connection on your device the app will not connect, and you will not be able to see the transcript, answer the assistant's questions, join the call or receive an alert about it. A slow or unstable connection may cause delays, disconnections and lost parts of a call, and in an area with no data coverage the service is not available to you. Note: even while the app is offline, call forwarding at your carrier keeps working and calls keep reaching the dedicated number - so the assistant may answer without you seeing it in real time. Your internet or mobile provider may charge for data use.

Travelling abroad and roaming: the dedicated number is an Israeli number, and the forwarding you set up keeps working while you are abroad. At some carriers the cost of a forwarded call is billed to whoever set up the forwarding - that is you - and abroad it can be significantly more expensive, so it is worth checking the tariff before you travel. Monitoring a call from abroad uses roaming data and may carry a separate cost. If roaming data is switched off you will not see the call in real time, but the assistant keeps answering calls in Israel, transcribing and summarising them, without you knowing until you reconnect. If you do not want the assistant answering while you are abroad, cancel the forwarding before you travel. All charges from communications providers are yours alone.

We aim to handle every call, but we cannot guarantee it. Inbound or outbound calls may fail to arrive, fail to be placed, drop, be delayed, be answered late or incorrectly, end too early, or not be logged or appear in call history, and a call alert may not arrive, arrive late, or arrive twice. Factors outside our control include your carrier's call forwarding, mobile and internet networks, our telephony, speech, and AI providers, operating systems and app stores, and your device (battery, Do Not Disturb, notification and microphone permissions, battery saving, an outdated app version).

When the assistant asks you a question during a call it waits a limited time; if you do not answer in time it continues at its own discretion, ends the call, or hangs up. Outbound calls may not be placed, may not be answered, may reach voicemail or an automated system, or may end without achieving their purpose. Subject to law, we are not responsible for damage, loss, a missed opportunity, or inconvenience caused by a call that did not arrive, was not placed, dropped, was lost, was answered late, or was handled less than ideally.

The service is not an emergency service, not a medical device, not a recognised relay service, and not a substitute for an interpreter or human assistance. It cannot place or receive calls to emergency numbers and does not replace them. You must keep a direct, independent way to reach emergency services and the people close to you, including the accessible channels the emergency services operate. If you are expecting a critical call - medical, legal, security, or financial - do not rely on the service alone.

The service is not a certified relay service: 4word does not operate a certified relay or captioned-telephone service, is not licensed or certified to do so by any regulator in Israel or elsewhere, and is not funded by any public relay fund. Do not use it where the law requires a certified relay service. In addition, the telephony provider's rules expressly prohibit using these numbers for communications with emergency services, inbound and outbound alike - do not register the dedicated number as a contact number with emergency services, security desks, or medical institutions.

Calls, consent, and lawful use

You must use call forwarding, outbound calling, contact data, and AI assistance lawfully and with any notices or permissions required for your situation. Do not use 4word for impersonation, deception, harassment, spam, surveillance, or unlawful recording. 4word's spoken AI introduction is a transparency control, not a guarantee that every legal obligation has been satisfied.

Standalone transcription is only for a conversation to which you are a party. Do not leave a device to capture other people's conversation or use the feature to commit an offence, cause harm, or unlawfully expose intimate matters. Workplace, professional, or non-Israeli rules may be stricter. Other participants will also be transcribed, and your acceptance does not consent on their behalf.

The provider's acceptable-use rules: the service runs on a third party's infrastructure, and we are obliged to apply that provider's acceptable-use rules to you and to make you aware of them. Among other things you must not: use the service contrary to law, regulation, an order of an authority, or telecommunications industry standards; create a false identity or mislead anyone as to the caller's identity; make marketing calls, spam, or automated calls without the consent the law requires; ignore an opt-out request; bypass limits placed on the service; or run code intended to harm it. A breach may cause the provider to suspend the service or the number, in addition to any other remedy available to us.

The assistant cannot commit on your behalf

The assistant acts on your behalf according to your instructions, but it is not authorized to create a legal or financial commitment for you without your approval. If the assistant said, promised, arranged, or agreed to something on a call, that is not a commitment by 4word, and we are not a party to any transaction, appointment, or arrangement made on a call. Whether to honour something that was said is your decision, and the responsibility toward the other party is yours.

The assistant may classify a call as spam or a nuisance and shorten it, and that classification is not definitive. Blocking numbers is done by you alone, and a blocked caller will not be able to reach you through the service - even if the call was important. The assistant may switch to another language to match the caller, and translation is automatic and may be inaccurate.

Showing your personal number (caller ID)

Enabling the feature that makes outbound calls show your personal number is subject to dedicated terms shown in the app before activation, which form part of these terms. In short: verification is done with the telephony provider and requires a verification call; the number of attempts is limited; turning the feature off deletes the number from the provider's verified list, and turning it back on requires a new verification after a waiting period; we may restrict, suspend, or revoke the feature at any time. Using the feature for deception or impersonation is prohibited and is a material breach.

The business owner's responsibilities (business product)

The business owner is responsible for the accuracy and upkeep of their knowledge base; the assistant answers only from that information. The owner undertakes not to instruct the system to act unlawfully, not to remove or bypass the AI disclosure, and not to use the service for fraud, spam or harassment.

Details captured from calls (names, numbers, appointment requests) are the product of natural conversation and may contain hearing or transcription errors - verify any critical detail with the customer before relying on it. A recorded appointment request is not a booking; confirming times is solely the business's responsibility.

The service is not intended for emergency lines, safety hotlines, or any use where an answering failure could endanger a person or property.

The business owner is responsible for informing its customers that phone inquiries are answered by an AI assistant and transcribed, and for holding a lawful basis for the processing; for handling its customers' requests for access, correction and deletion and passing on to us only those that cannot be carried out from the dashboard; and for using the leads export only for the purpose for which the information was given, keeping it secure and not passing it to a third party without a lawful basis.

AI limitations

The assistant, live transcript, extracted details, and summaries may be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. Verify names, numbers, appointments, prices, commitments, and other important information directly. The service is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Content the assistant produces is generated automatically, is not reviewed by a person before it is spoken, and may be wrong, out of context, repetitive, or similar to content produced for other users. The AI disclosure is spoken only on calls the assistant handles; standalone transcription has no automatic spoken disclosure, and telling the other party, where your circumstances require it, is your responsibility.

Transcription is produced by automatic speech recognition and is not an exact record: it can mishear, omit words or guess - especially with names, numbers, amounts, addresses and medical or professional terms, and in background noise, with an accent, or when two people speak at once. Word-by-word captions are provisional and may change as a sentence completes.

When the other party does not speak Hebrew, the assistant may switch to their language. What you read is then a machine translation, with the original shown alongside it where available. Translation is automatic, may be inaccurate, and may not arrive at all - in which case the original text is shown in its own language and marked as untranslated. If you reply in writing, the assistant says your words in the other party's language; if you choose to speak in your own voice, your words are not translated.

Transcription, translation, text-to-speech and summarisation are carried out by external processors acting for us, as set out in the privacy policy. An outage, slowdown or change at such a provider may affect the availability or quality of the service, and we do not control their models' output. The service may be interrupted, delayed or return a partial result.

Deactivation, suspension, restriction, and termination

We may deactivate, suspend, restrict, or terminate an account or part of the service, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice, including in these cases: breach of the terms or the law; suspected abuse, fraud, or a security risk; a demand by an authority or a provider; the end of the pilot or a change in the product; capacity limits; prolonged inactivity; non-payment, if and when the service is paid; or any other reasonable cause.

While an account is deactivated or suspended the service does not answer calls for you and does not place calls. Your call forwarding remains your setting with your carrier, and you must cancel it. We will try to notify you in the app, but we cannot guarantee the notice is received. Deactivation, suspension, or termination does not entitle you to compensation, and reactivation is at our discretion. Clauses that by their nature are meant to survive termination continue to apply.

Deleting data - by you and by us

When you delete a call, a transcript, history, or the whole account, the deletion is final and cannot be recovered, and we are not responsible for data you deleted, even if the deletion was a mistake. We may delete data according to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy, on deletion, deactivation, or termination of the account, for legal, security, or provider reasons, or because of a fault, an outage, loss at a provider, or a technical failure. We do not undertake to back up, restore, or keep data for any period.

The service is not an archive and not a system of record. Transcripts and summaries are not certified transcripts and should not be relied upon as a complete or accurate record of the call. If you need information, copy or export it in time. Deletion on our side does not guarantee immediate deletion at sub-processors or in backup copies, and is carried out on a best-effort basis.

Pilot reset: while the service is in pilot we may reset it - deleting every account and all accumulated data, including calls, transcripts, summaries and settings - and ask you to sign up again. We will try to give notice, but we do not undertake to, and we do not undertake to provide a backup or an export beforehand. If something matters to you, copy or export it in time. A reset carries no entitlement to compensation.

No warranties

The website and the service are provided as is and as available, without any warranty, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, continuity, availability, or the absence of errors. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, perfect transcription, a specific response time, or access for every applicant. We may change, pause, remove, or end features or the whole service, with reasonable notice where practicable.

We are not responsible for events beyond our reasonable control, including war, a state of emergency, hostilities, disaster, strike, failure of communication or power networks, cyber attack, an order of an authority or a change in law, and the failure of a third-party provider. In an emergency we may temporarily suspend call answering for all users and ask you to cancel your forwarding.

Limitation of liability

Subject to law that cannot be contracted out of, and to the maximum extent it permits, 4word, its owners, directors, employees, and providers are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, punitive, or incidental damage, for loss of income, profit, opportunity, a transaction, an appointment, data, or goodwill, or for distress or non-monetary damage, even if we were told such damage was possible.

Without limiting the above, we are not liable for damage arising from a call that did not arrive, was not placed, dropped, was lost, or was handled incorrectly; an alert that did not arrive or arrived twice; an error, omission, or statement by the assistant or the transcript; a commitment made on a call; call forwarding that was not set up, did not work, or was not cancelled; deactivation, suspension, or termination of the account; replacement or reassignment of the dedicated number; deletion of data by you or by us; failure of a provider, network, device, or operating system; unauthorized access that occurred despite reasonable security measures; or use of the service contrary to the terms.

Our liability to you, where it applies, is for direct, proven damage only, and will not exceed the greater of (a) the consideration you actually paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event, or (b) ILS 50. This limitation is reasonable and fair in the circumstances: the service is provided as a free pilot, depends on networks and providers outside our control, is accompanied by reasonable measures to prevent faults, and is an assistive tool that is not meant to be anyone's only channel for a critical matter. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intentional acts or gross negligence, bodily injury, or mandatory consumer rights, and nothing here denies or limits your right to go to court.

Indemnification

You undertake to indemnify 4word, its owners, directors, and employees for any claim, demand, damage, loss, fine, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service contrary to the terms or the law, infringement of a third party's rights, transcribing or disclosing other people's information without permission, use of call forwarding or personal caller ID contrary to law, or any commitment you created through the service.

Your account and ending use

In the personal product, you may stop forwarding calls and delete your account through the app controls. In the business product, you may submit an access, correction, export, or deletion request through the link in Settings or the contact form, subject to identity and authority verification. We may restrict or end access for abuse, security risk, unlawful use, or material breach. In the personal product you may also deactivate your account from within the app: deactivation stops the service and deletes nothing, and deletion is a separate action. Deletion may wait until an active call ends, and may leave a usage history that is not linked to your identity, a deletion record with no identifying details, a Terms acceptance record with the identifying details removed, and monthly service totals with no name, number or content, all as set out in the Privacy Policy. An account that was deactivated, suspended, or closed does not answer calls, and your call forwarding remains your setting, which you must cancel.

Intellectual property

The 4word brand, mark, and marketing copy on this page are ours. They may not be used commercially without prior written consent.

General, and changes to these terms

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the dedicated terms for specific features, are the entire agreement between us regarding the service. If any clause is held invalid, the remaining clauses stay in force and the clause is interpreted as closely as possible to its original intent. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. We may assign our rights and obligations to a third party as part of a transfer of the business; you may not assign your account.

We may update these terms from time to time. A material change will be shown in the app or on the website and will require renewed acceptance before the relevant use continues; a non-material change takes effect on publication, and continued use afterwards constitutes acceptance. The Hebrew version is binding; translations are provided for convenience only.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Israeli law. Exclusive jurisdiction lies with the competent courts of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa district.
